Drive-in spas, surgical centers in the offing?

... Conceivably, you could order up an extreme makeover as easily as a milkshake and fries. ("Would madam like a liposuction with her color rinse?").

One of the most popular television shows these days is "Extreme Makeover," in which ordinary people who are unhappy with their looks get a chance to remake themselves, at the expense of the TV show.

Millions of viewers have watched intensely as ugly ducklings - or people who just don't like their nose - have been transformed.

The notion that we can make ourselves look like movie stars drives everything from glamour photography to toothpaste that promises to make our teeth shine like diamonds.

Now, a new company called The Advanced Aesthetics Institute says it is the first to offer Americans both cosmetic services and medical procedures under the same roof.

Physicians, dentists, hair stylists and colorists and estheticians will be aligned and waiting in what is described as a "four seasons atmosphere."

If successful, such drive-in spas and surgical centers could become as ubiquitous as a Burger King.

Conceivably, you could order up an extreme makeover as easily as a milkshake and fries.
